Weddings bring so many reasons to celebrate. It’s not just the wedding – it’s the engagement party, the bachelorette party, the honeymoon, and the bridal shower. This is both great – who doesn’t like another reason to celebrate? – and also stressful. Don’t let your bridal party be “just another thing to plan and check off the list.” The bridal shower is a time to celebrate the bride and, traditionally, help her set up her new home.
Whether you choose to go traditional or less so, there’s always room to work in a theme. Today, we’ll discuss some of our favorite bridal shower themes to help get you inspired to have an aesthetically pleasing, fun shower. Let’s dig in!
Play with the classic tea party theme. Encourage your guests to wear their finest tea-length dresses and hats. Serve tea and light snacks, like tea sandwiches, curried deviled eggs, and scones. Be sure to have all the fixings for your tea, including milk, cream, and honey. You’ll also want to plan on serving an assortment of high-end teas if this is your theme.
The Great Bake Off
Want to get hands-on with your shower guests? Bake some treats, a la the Great British Bake Off. Perhaps choose something easier to make than the typical dessert you see on the show, so everyone can participate. We recommend including cookie decorating, so guests can write sweet messages for the bride. If you don’t have the space for this kind of thing, check out your local culinary schools and bakeries – a lot of places offer baking classes for private parties. Be sure to include a panel of judges, just like on the show! Give out personalized wooden spoons as party favors.
Try going southwestern for your shower! Include a signature margarita and a taco bar to feed guests. Use cacti for centerpieces and give away succulents as party favors. Include greens, sandy tans, and vibrant rust tones in your decorations. Check out this list for plenty of inspiration!
In the Garden
When you’re surrounded by greenery and flowers, you can’t deny that love is in the air! Set up a massive flower wall for photos and encourage people to share the gorgeous photos. Offer guests a signature flowery cocktail – we love this Floral Fizz. Create an activity out of making your own perfume by ordering a kit like this one. Display silverware and napkins in terra cotta pots down the center of the table with garlands of leaves intertwining.
Who doesn’t love breakfast food? Set up a donut bar for grab-and-go food. Offer other breakfast snacks like egg bites and french toast dunkers. Be sure to include a bottomless mimosa bar with various juices, fresh fruit, and champagne, so guests can customize their drinks. Of course, the bride-to-be should sip her coffee out of this Fiance mug when she’s not drinking a mimosa.
Love in Bloom
Honestly, you can never have too many flowers! Surround the party with bouquets of flowers. Have a flower crown station, where guests can choose from premade crowns or build their own, and encourage them to wear the crown throughout the shower. Decorate with hanging floral mobiles from the ceiling. We’re thinking of something like this one. As a party favor, give out flower seeds in cute pots for guests to grow and send you pictures for years to come!
Sustainability isn’t necessarily a theme, but there are a bunch of things you can do to make your bridal shower super eco-friendly! First, sew your own bouquets from scrap material. Check out these thoughtful bouquet options. Have reusable napkins at every place setting, adorned with monograms. Decorate with your own homemade dried orange garlands, which you can use for years to come. These can also double as party favors! Of course, be sure to use reusable plates and silverware!
Looking to spice up an otherwise traditional event? Throw a mixology shower! Take the group to a mixology class. You can do this in person, as a private event, or have a virtual class! Have the bartender come up with a signature drink ahead of time, then teach the entire class to make it. Give out customized glasses as party favors!
Mini Shower, Larger than Life Couple
With this fun theme, you’ll highlight all of the larger-than-life adventures you and your partner have had together. Decorate with all your best photos! Then, serve only minis – mini sandwiches, mini shrimp cocktails, and mini desserts. Serve cocktails in shot glasses where possible. This theme is kitschy and unique!
With this theme, celebrate with peach-themed food and drinks! Serve peach cobbler, peach spinach salad, peach salsa, and white peach sangria. Decorate with balloons, table runners, and confetti that are white, pink, peach, orange, and tan. Keep it simple and sweet!
